Bangladesh into AHF Cup final after putting eight past Kazakhstan

Bangladesh face Oman in Sunday's final

Ashraful Islam slammed four goals as Bangladesh reached the final of the Men's Asian Hockey Federation Cup Hockey in style thrashing Kazakhstan by 8-1 goals in the second semi-final Saturday at GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Holders Bangladesh will now play the final against higher ranked Oman with the aim of defending their title.

The final is scheduled to be held Sunday at the same venue at 6pm, Bangladesh Standard Time.

With the comprehensive victory, Bangladesh reached the final of the tournament for the fourth time in a row.

More importantly, Bangladesh also secured the ticket to play in the Asia Cup by reaching the final.

Bangladesh hockey team are champions in the last three editions and looking forward to defending their title for the fourth time.

Apart from Ashraful's four goals, Khorshedur Rahman struck twice while Russel Mahmud Jimmy and Sohanur Rahman Sabuj scored one each to secure Bangladesh's emphatic victory.

Earlier, Bangladesh emerged as Pool B champions by maintaining their all win record in the tournament.

Bangladesh got off to an auspicious start as they crushed hosts Indonesia by 7-2 goals in their tournament opener, dumped Singapore by 7-0 goals in their second match, defeated Iran by 6-2 goals in their third game and edged past Oman by 3-2 goals in their last Pool B match.
