Bangladesh beat higher ranked Oman 3-2 in an Asian Hockey Federation Cup thriller Thursday to conclude their group phase campaign with a 100% record in four matches.
Defender and penalty corner specialist Khorshedur Rahman starred for the men in red and green with a hat-trick at JBK Hockey Stadium in Jakarta as Bangladesh finished as Group B champions with maximum points to set up a semi-final date with Kazakhstan Saturday.
This was Khorshedur's first treble in a Bangladesh jersey in his 10-year national career as he grabbed two of his goals from penalty corners and completed his hattrick with a penalty stroke.
After going down 2-0 to 39th ranked Bangladesh, 27th placed Oman scripted a fightback to bring parity before Khorshedur bagged the winner.
Bangladesh had earlier swept aside Iran, hosts Indonesia and Singapore in their three games before Thursday.
The tournament's highest ranked team Oman finished as Group B runners-up; their only defeat in the group phase coming against Bangladesh.
