Bangladesh Mariner Youngs Club’s officials resigned from the ad-hoc committee of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation in protest of a decision that awarded Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited the premier league title.

During a press conference Thursday, Mariner informed about the resignation through a statement, signed by club secretary Hasan Ullah Khan Rana. The statement also urged the board president to interfere of the committee’s decision that was termed “one-sided”.

On June 7 this year in the final match of the league, Mohammedan protested Mariner’s equaliser and sought for video referral. However, Mariner claimed that MSC made misconduct through “the refusal of play”.

Under these hotchpotch circumstances, two Chinese umpires left the ground and the fate of the game, and the championship, was submitted to the discretion of the BHF.

After over four months last Tuesday, BHF’s committee gave the verdict in favour of a 1-1 draw and that meant Mohammedan became the title winner. On the statement, Mariner said Sajed AA Adel, the vice-president of BHF and one of the high-ups of MSC was the antagonist of staging a “poor script” and implemented a conspiracy.

The statement also reminded that Mariner had hinted of a conspiracy regarding the match back on October 25. The statement also alleged that the decision was an utter breach of by-laws and the incident was unprecedented.

The club also urged the president of BHF to make an urgent interference regarding the issue. The club thought the president will find the truth and they hope he will impose a temporary stay order on the committee’s decision and salvage the country’s hockey.
