The selection committee as well as head coach Mahbub Harun made two changes from the squad that took part in the Hockey World League Round 2, which was held in Dhaka in February this year. Along with Mimo, forward Hasan Jubair Niloy also returned to the final squad. Meanwhile, with the participation of the top eight hockey countries from Asia, Dhaka will host Asia’s biggest hockey event after a span of 32 years. The home side however, were placed in a tough group along with top-ranked India, Pakistan and Japan in Pool A.

They will begin the campaign against Pakistan in the inaugural day of the tournament on October 11.
