Greenidge to arrive Dhaka to promote Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open

Former Bangladesh cricket team coach and legendary West Indies opener Gordon Greenidge will arrive here on Thursday, according to sources.

Last year the Barbados-born 67-year old former player visited Bangladesh for personal reason. During that time Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) honoured him with a grand reception.

But this year, Greenidge is coming to Bangladesh for a different reason. According to sources, Greenidge is coming to Bangladesh as a brand ambassador of Asian Tour Golf. The tournament, Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2019 will commence on April 3.

Greenidge will come to promote the tournament and he is brought here by the sponsors of this tournament. Indian film star Sanjay Dutt also came before the tournament to unveil its logo.

Bangladesh won the ICC Trophy under Greenidge’s tutelage in 1997 and qualified for the 1999 World Cup. Under Greenidge, the Tigers later defeated Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup.
