'A hit on the head with a hammer'

Update : 01 Sep 2013, 07:33 PM

Bangladesh head coach Lodewijk de Kruif, during their practice session at the police head quarters ground in Kathmandu, yesterday, termed the defeat against Nepal as “a hit on the head with a hammer”.

The practice session began on a bad note when the Nepal police authority did not allow the Bangladesh team as well as the media people to enter the field as a selection process of UN mission was going on at the field. The clearance was finally attained about 30 minutes later after which the Bangladesh team started their training.

The defeat was very hard to accept for the Dutch coach who said, “I could not sleep well last night. The defeat was like a hit of hammer on the head and moreover the injuries are hampering my plans continuously.

“I will sit with the video and show them the mistakes they have committed. In football there’s nothing impossible and we still are focused to win the next two matches,” said de Kruif.

The coach revealed that the players have sought apology for ten times for the mistakes they have committed. “I have to look forward with what I have. The defensive errors were too much and it cost us the match, there were lack of commitment in the defence. Now we are standing ahead of the most important match of our lives,” said de Kruif.

De Kruif said Sohel Rana, the attacking midfielder, will be fit for the next match, but skipper Mamunul Islam is still uncertain. Moreover forward Shakawat Hossain Rony attained a groin strain during the match against Nepal and did not train yesterday.
