Bangladesh football team are set to play a couple of friendly practice matches against Sudan in Saudi Arabia ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifying games against Palestine.
The first match will be held Sunday night while the second is scheduled for Thursday, confirmed Bangladesh team manager Amer Khan, adding that both encounters will be played behind closed doors.
A 28-member Bangladesh squad led by head coach Javier Cabrera have been in Saudi Arabia for a 15-day training camp in Taif since March 2.
Through a video message, Amer said they had been looking for opponents in the Middle East country to play friendly games and found Sudan available.
“After we arrived here, we heard that Sudan team were also training here. We started communication on how to arrange a match. They agreed to play while Saudi Arabian football federation also gave the permission,” said Amer.
“It would be good for the team before going to Kuwait for the game against Palestine,” he added.
Both the practice matches will be held at King Fahad Sports City (11:30pm Bangladesh time) where Bangladesh team have been holding the preparation camp.
The men in red and green will face Palestine in the away group fixture of FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Kuwait on March 22 before hosting the same opponent in Dhaka four days later.
