English Premier League outfit West Ham United’s former midfielder Peter Butler arrived in Dhaka Wednesday to take charge of Bangladesh Football Federation’s Elite Academy.

The BFF revealed the news through a press release soon after the arrival of the 57-year old British coach in the capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon.

Paul Thomas Smalley looked after the BFF Elite Football Academy as technical and strategic director of the federation until he resigned from the post last year.

Butler has coaching experience of almost 20 years after concluding his playing career having featured for different English clubs including West Ham and West Bromwich Albion.

He was the head coach of Botswana national team from 2014-17 after managing Malaysian Super League side Terengganu for two years.

He also coached Indonesian Super League club Persipura for a season before guiding Liberia national side for three years as head coach, which was his last job before moving to Bangladesh.
