Bangladesh football team skipper Jamal Bhuiyan has officially penned the deal with Argentine club Sol de Mayo through a contract signing ceremony in Argentina Friday.

Jamal was seen standing beside the club officials in front of a table with a number of Bangladesh flags and his new jersey before signing the contract, according to a live video posted on Jamal’s social media page.

The Denmark-born midfielder spoke in Bangla as well as English which was interpreted to the audience in Spanish.

“I came here to represent Bangladesh. I’m signing for Sol de Mayo today. I hope you follow me,” the 33-year old urged his Bangladesh fans, before adding, “Bangladesh is my love. As a Bangladeshi I’m really proud. I want to show my skills and performance. If I play well I hope two-three or more Bangladeshis would come and play here.

"I can utilize my experience as I have played a lot of international matches, I can provide new energy. I hope I can take Sol de Mayo to the next level," said Jamal with Stevie Wonder's famous hit I Just Called To Say I Love You playing in the background.

Jamal was then handed the No 6 Jersey, the same jersey number he wears for the national team, before the contract signing.

Jamal, who played for Bangladesh Premier League outfit Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra last season, earlier told Dhaka Tribune that the length of the new contract will be 15 months.

Sol de Mayo compete in the Torneo Federal A, one of two professional leagues, the other being Primera B Metropolitana, that form the third level/division of the Argentine football league system.

Midfield anchor Jamal, who has 68 international caps, featured for a host of clubs in Bangladesh, including Saif Sporting Club, Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited and Chittagong Abahani, and also played club football in Denmark having been born in Copenhagen.

A couple of years ago, he also turned out for Indian side Kolkata Mohammedan on loan.
