Nepal women beat Bangladesh on penalties to clinch FIFA friendly series

Nepal prevailed 4-2 in the tie-breaker after the regulation 90 minutes failed to produce a goal

Nepal national women's football team sealed the two-match FIFA International Friendly Series after defeating hosts Bangladesh in the tie-breaker in the second and final game Sunday in Kamalapur's Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Stadium.

The visiting side prevailed 4-2 on penalties after the regulation 90 minutes failed to produce a goal.

Sabitra Bhandari, Hira Kumari, Dipa Shahi and Anita KC all converted from the spot for the tourists with the exception of goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba, while from the home side Shamsunnahar and Monika Chakma netted theirs but crucially, Sheuli Azim and Maria Manda missed.

The first encounter last Thursday had finished 1-1 at the same venue after captain Sabina Khatun gave Bangladesh the lead in the 65th minute before Sabitra Bhandari equalized in the first minute of time added on.
