Saff Championship winning members of the Bangladesh national women's team have returned home to spend 15-day Eid vacation with the rewards they had been promised for clinching the historic title.
The award of Tk50 lakhs pledged by Envoy Group was handed over to the team through a program at the Bangladesh Football Federation House Thursday afternoon.
BFF's senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, managing director of Envoy Group, and his son Ishmam Salam, director of the same company, handed over the cheque to the players, coaches and officials.
"It is a matter of great happiness for us to get the money before going home for Eid vacation,” said Bangladesh captain and forward Sabina Khatun at the ceremony.
After that, the team members started heading toward their respective home, said head coach Golam Rabbani Choton.
Earlier, they received cash awards from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Cricket Board, Rupayan Group, Amber, Prothom Alo, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Sonali Bank and BFF vice president Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan for winning their maiden Saff Championship trophy in Nepal in September last year.
