Nigeria-born striker Eleta Kingsley was delighted to make his debut in Bangladesh jersey as the men in red and green defeated African side Seychelles 1-0 in a Fifa friendly in Sylhet Saturday.

“Grateful for this opportunity to wear this prestigious national team jersey. This is a dream come true for me and my family,” stated the 33-year old in a facebook post.

“Goals to come through all your prayers because we are now one big family,” he added.

The Abahani Limited forward started on the bench and came on as a substitute after the first-half replacing Aminur Rahman Sojib.

Eleta also became the first African-origin footballer to play for Bangladesh.

Born and raised in Nigeria, he started playing in Bangladesh's domestic league in 2011 and married a Bangladeshi a year later.

He applied for Bangladeshi citizenship in 2014, with it being granted in 2021.
