Who else but Gareth Bale scored Wales' first World Cup goal in 64 years as Rob Page's men came from behind to draw 1-1 against the United States of America at Qatar's Al Rayyan Stadium Monday.
Timothy Weah, son of Liberia president and 1995 Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, gave USA the lead in the 36th minute after a fine pass from Christian Pulisic set him free.
It was a game of two halves as the Americans dominated the first half, but after resumption, Wales came out firing.
Wales' attacking intent was finally rewarded in the 80th minute when Bale was brought down inside USA's box by Walker Zimmerman, and the referee awarded a penalty.
Bale calmly stroked away the penalty - his 41st international goal - to confirm a share of the spoils.
Both the teams now trail early leaders England, who won their opening game 6-2 against Iran earlier in the day.
Wales next face Iran this Friday, while the USA meet England on the same day.
