The Bangladesh Football Federation is planning to involve a number of business organisations as patrons for their long-term development plan and national football team's activities.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin held a meeting with the top representatives of Max Group, Toma Construction, Impress Group, Saif Powertec, Sharp Securities and KBC Agro Products to discuss the matter at the BFF House on Tuesday.
It was the second meeting between the two parties but no final agreement was made despite the BFF calling for a press briefing for Tuesday.
“We already sat in two meetings and it's all positive. We almost reached an agreement. Hopefully we need one or two more meetings to reach a conclusion. Then we can officially announce may be in eight-10 days about it,” said Salahuddin.
He informed that it is not just about “financial benefits” but includes planning for long term to take football to a new level.
“They want to be here long-term and so do we. If we reach a stage I hope it will open a new chapter for Bangladesh football,” he said.
Golam Mohammad Alamgir, chairman of Max Group, expressed their interest to work with BFF for five-10 years.
“The reason for the discussion is to upgrade football in grassroot level from villages to districts to national level. We have similarity in our ways of thinking about what the BFF lacks and what they have to do in five-10 years for the development of football,” said Alamgir.
“There is no limit of how much money is required and how much money will be given. No limit. We are ready for that. We really feel there is a big vacuum compared to other footballing nations. Let's take it strongly and do the job for the nation,” he added.
BFF vice presidents Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Badal Roy and Mohiuddin Mohi were also present along with other BFF officials and top representatives of the patron organisations.
