Following their stunning triple championship winning season, Sheikh Russell KC are set to lose two key players – striker Jahid Hassan Emily and winger Zahid Hossain – who have decided to return to their former team Mohammedan for record breaking salaries. Both Emily and Zahid, who played key roles in Russell’s treble, are expected to receive salaries as high as Tk3.7m from the traditional crowd-pullers. This could amount to be the highest ever salary paid in the history of Bangladesh Premier League. Earlier, it was also learnt that Sheikh Russell midfielder Mamunul may join Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club for Tk3.6m. Both Emily and Zahid have received an advance of Tk2m each from Mohammedan last Saturday. “Nobody has earned such an amount of salary in the history of Bangladesh football before. This is a record and we decided to join Mohammedan for this,” said Emily. Meanwhile, the contract will be signed after the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League concludes tomorrow. Sheikh Russell coach and officials had no comment on the matter. The duo’s first target would be to help Mohammedan regain glory and win trophies. They played for the Black and Whites in the 2009-10 season, when Mohammedan managed to win the Federation Cup with a star-studded squad. “Mohammedan will form a title winning squad. Most of the national team players will wear Mohammedan jersey this season,” said Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, director in-charge of administration at Mohammedan. The club is also said to be looking to recruit Touhidul Alam Sabuj, Shakil Ahmed and Arup Kumar Baiddya.
