Bangladesh Football Federation is waiting for world football governing body Fifa’s permission before going for any written agreement over Qatar’s proposal to play their postponed World Cup and Asian Cup joint qualifying game away in the first week of December amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We verbally agreed that if they [Qatar] get permission from Fifa to play the pending joint qualifying game, then we go to Qatar. If they get Fifa’s permission, then we would give written agreement,” said BFF vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed Tuesday.
Fifa in August this year postponed the remaining fixtures of the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup joint-qualifiers until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nepal games would provide a better idea about the fitness condition of the footballers.
“Discussion was in place to play two practice matches in Qatar. Initially it was one game,” the vice-president told the media after chairing the national team management committee’s first meeting since the October polls.
“Football is not a one-man game. It’s a team game. It needs at least six-eight weeks to gain full fitness. Both Bangladesh and Nepal are in similar situation. The games are organized to observe everything and to check where we stand,” said Nabil.
According to BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, Qatar Football Association proposed the BFF about the pending away fixture last week.
The game was previously scheduled to be held on October 13 before being rescheduled to 2021.
