The Women’s Football League has been deferred once again and is now scheduled to kick off next Saturday, on February 22.
To add to that, the league was initially slated to be participated by eight teams but will now have seven sides with Shopnochura Akkelpur Football Club dropped by Bangladesh Football Federation after the players’ transfer window.
The women’s league was supposed to get underway on January 31 but was pushed back as the BFF extended the transfer window to February 12.
Players like Nazma, Sajeda, Anuching Mogini, Anai Mogini Shamsunnahar Jr and Marzia did not get any clubs back then and hence, football’s governing body in the country extended the deadline.

The BFF’s plans though did not come to fruition as the aforementioned players are still yet to sign for any clubs.
And to make things worse, the Akkelpur players will now miss out on some competitive action after their club were axed from the league by the BFF.
Seven teams – Begum Anwara Sporting Club, Uttarbanga FC, Comilla United, Nasrin SC, Kacharipara XI, Galactico FC and Bashundhara Kings – will now take part in the league.
