Bangladesh girls thrash Iran 8-1

Update : 31 Mar 2018, 07:11 PM
Bangladesh U-15 women's team continued their brilliant run in the Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament 2018 in Hong Kong as they handed Iran U-15 side a thrashing defeat of 8-1 Saturday. The Bangladesh girls had earlier thumped Malaysia 10-1 in their opening match of the tournament Friday at the same venue, riding on braces from Shamsunnahar, Tahura Khatun and Anai Mogini. And yet again against Iran, it was Tahura and Shamsunnahar who tormented the opposition defenders with scintillating hat-tricks. Tahura opened the scoring with only one minute into the clock before grabbing her second 12 minutes later. The diminutive forward completed her treble in the 29th minute to give Bangladesh a 3-0 lead. Anai made it 4-0 in the 32nd minute before Shamsunnahar scored her first in the added time of the first half. The Bangladesh girls went into the break 5-0 ahead and continued their goal-spree in the second half. In the 63rd minute, Shamsunnahar notched her second, and the side's sixth, before the prolific attacker completed her hat-trick four minutes later.

Anai scored her second in the 77th minute to complete the rout but she narrowly failed to make it three hat-tricks for Bangladesh in the remainder of the tie. Iran netted a consolation goal in the dying stages of the game. Bangladesh girls will now take on host Hong Kong in their last match of the tournament Sunday. A draw will be enough for Bangladesh to seal the championship. Following the game, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, "I am very pleased with our overall performance, and certainly the two results. Looking forward to the final game against Hong Kong." Bangladesh captain Maria Manda said, "I am very happy with the first two games and the results. Our last match is against Hong Kong. We will try our best and give full effort to win the match, and the championship. Please pray for us." Hat-trick hero Tahura said, "I am very happy at scoring regularly. We all will give our full effort in the last match against Hong Kong and try to clinch the championship for Bangladesh." In the other game of the day, host Hong Kong beat Malaysia 1-0.RESULTBangladesh U-15 8 (Tahura 1, 13, 29, Anai 32, 77, Shamsunnahar 45+1, 63, 67) 1 Iran U-15 POINTS TABLETeams M W D L GD PtsBangladesh 2 2 0 0 16 6Hong Kong 2 1 0 1 0 3Iran 2 1 0 1 -6 3Malaysia 2 0 0 2 -10 0
