Mohammedan stun Saif Sporting

A second-half brace by Kingsley Chigozie enabled Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited to stun big-spending Saif Sporting Club as they defeated the newcomer 3-0 in their 16th round match in the Bangladesh Premier League at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Sunday. After getting to know that his father, former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham was watching from the stand, English striker Charlie couldn't make any notable impact in the game, playing on the muddy surface of the BNS. Saif Sporting earlier defeated Mohammedan 3-2 in the first phase of the league. Kingsley spoiled Charlie's day as the Nigerian striker netted a double in the second half while Haitian forward Augustin Walson scored the other to secure Mohammedan’s seventh win in the league this season. The result however, didn't change any of the side's positions in the points table as the Black and Whites remained fifth with 23 points while Saif Sporting are still fourth with 30 points.Following a barren first half, Kingsley gave Mohammedan the lead with only a minute into the second half after fine work by winger Biplu Ahmed. Walson doubled the lead two minutes later, placing home after outpacing his markers at the left side of the box. Kingsley sealed victory in the 57th minute, beating Saif Sporting goalkeeper Pappu Hossain with a shot from the edge of the box. Meanwhile in the day's other game at the same venue, two second-half goals helped Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra return to winning ways after a run of three straight defeats as they handed Brothers Union a 2-0 defeat to bag their third win in the league this season. The victory lifted the All Reds out of the relegation zone. They now have 11 points from 16 matches to sit at 11th, only a point more than bottom-placed Farashganj Sporting Club. Brothers remained ninth with 14 points from as many outings.After the opening half ended goalless, Nigerian forward Magalan Awala put the Muktis ahead in the 77th minute, placing home following a defence-splitting pass from Shafiqul Islam Bipul.
