Tajik loss the most disappointing: BFF chief

Update : 13 Nov 2015, 06:19 PM

Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin yesterday termed Bangladesh’s performance against Tajikistan “the most disappointing” national tie during his current term as the federation boss.

The Bengal Tigers were humiliated 5-0 last Thursday in their sixth match of the 2018 Fifa World Cup second round qualifiers and will now host mighty Asian champions Soccerroos this Tuesday. Salahuddin admitted that the result is the worst by the national team during his second term as BFF president in the last three years.

“[Thursday’s] match was very disappointing. I can say this is the most disappointing national tie during this term. I cannot accept it. How can this happen?” said the former national star forward yesterday. The performance of the men in red and green made the BFF chief “concerned” ahead of perhaps their toughest test yet against the Socceroos.

“Australia are a much better team. They are one of the best teams in Asia and most of their players play in Europe. We will lose the game but I still hope we will fight. But after [Thursday’s] game, I am very concerned,” he said.

In the last three years, Bangladesh played 20 matches, losing 10 times, drawing on seven occasions and winning only thrice. Bangladesh were the better side when they drew against Tajikistan at home in June this year but they totally collapsed in every department last Thursday.

“The defence looked very unstable and immature. The forward line was both inexperienced and baffled during the game,” Salahuddin said before adding, “The team is very unpredictable and inconsistent. Basic is very weak. Some silly mistakes only school boys can make. It is very sad to see all the missed passes.”
