High flying Legends of Rupganj slumped to their second consecutive defeat in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League after losing to Kalabagan Cricket Academy yesterday. Prime Bank jumped to the top of the points table after registering a comfortable win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. Meanwhile, Prime Doleshwar enjoyed their fourth win of this campaign beating Mohammedan.
Rupganj v Kalabagan CA, BKSP 4
Rupganj, batting first, were bundled out for a paltry 194 with skipper Jahurul Islam scoring the highest 58 followed by their foreign recruit Ashar Zaidi’s 55.
Mohammad Sharif was the pick of the bowlers for Kalabagan. The right-arm medium pacer bagged 4 for 46 and was ably supported by left-arm spinner Bishwanath Haldar who took 3 for 35.
Openers Irfan Shukkur and Imtiaz Hossain’s half centuries made the chase easy for Kalabagan although they won it in the last over with seven wickets to spare.
Irfan made 80 off 121 balls with eight fours while Imtiaz departed for 64.
Sheikh Jamal DC v Prime Bank, BKSP 3
National fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who returned to cricket through this match after his long injury layoff, was the pick of the bowlers for Prime Bank who rode on the youngster’s 3 for 26 to restrict Jamal to just 205.
Opening batsman Myshukur Rahman, who initially left the field retired hurt on 17, remained unbeaten on 50 while Arafat Sunny also smashed a half century for Jamal.
Chasing the small target of 206, Prime Bank openers Shadman Islam (69) and Saikat Ali (68) ensured that they would reach the target without any trouble.
The win took Prime Bank to the top of the table with 12 points from seven matches.
Mohammedan v Doleshwar, Fatullah
Doleshwar clinched their fourth win of the league by successfully defending their 216/8 by 32 runs.
Mehedi Maruf scored the highest 56 off 68 balls with three fours and two sixes while English cricketer Dawid Malan made 45 for the batting side as Afghan leg-spinner Rahmat Shah bagged three wickets for Mohammedan.
In reply, Mohammedan kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Mohammad Mithun’s 48 was the highest in their 184. After scoring a handy 45 with the bat, Malan picked up 3 for 22 from his six overs with the ball while Delwar Hossain and Habibur Rahman took two wickets each for Doleshwar.
