Shakib-Jubair duo removed the top 6 Zimbabwe batsmen in Bangladesh's First Test against the visiting Zimbabwe at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Jubair Hossain struck on his debut match as he sent back Zimbabwe captain Brendon Taylor and opener Sikander Reza to the pavilion. Taylor secured 28 runs while Raza made 51.
Bangladeshi spinner Shakib Al Hasan also took the wicket of ace batsman Hamilton Masakadza, Elton Chigumbura, Nyombu, and Chakabva after his first international return. It is Shakib Al Hasan's first game for Bangladesh, after the ban imposed on him was reduced by the BCB for disciplinary reasons.
Shahadat and Taijul took one wicket each.
Another Zimbabwean opener V Sibanda made an outside edge of pacer Shahadat Hossain's delivery, the swings were just enough to catch it as he was looking to defend.
The visiting Zimbabwean team have scored 221 for the loss of eight wickets in the match. The visitors have won the toss and decided to bat in the first Test of Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh.
Nyumbu (14*) and Panyangara (8*) are now batting.
Both teams named one debutant each in their XIs, both legspinners. Bangladesh gave Jubair Hossain, a 19-year old who has played only two first-class matches, a Test cap; while Zimbabwe's Tafadzwa Kamungozi has 44 first-class matches worth of experience and has also played six ODIs and a T20 international.
Bangladesh is yet to win a Test or a one-day international this year, but they have begun this series as the favourites because of their home advantage.
