“Such situation would not have been created in Fatullah if the responsibility to arrange the ground would have been in our hands. They (NSC) always take a decision at the very last moment. Actually they do not know crisis management,” said BCB boss Nazmul to the media on Wednesday.With less than two weeks in hand, the BCB’s grounds committee took up the issue as their responsibility and worked in Fatullah on Wednesday. Some 600 sand bags have been put around the venue to stop water from entering the stadium in case of heavy rain. At the same time, suction pump has also been installed at different areas of the venue.

BCB supremo Nazmul said he is confident of having Fatullah as a venue for the tour game. However, much will depend on the weather. The initiative taken by BCB to overcome the waterlog crisis is not a permanent one.

“We were worried but not anymore. We sent a team to Fatullah. They will report to us. We kept BKSP as an option but they (Australia) did not agree to play there, given the distance of that venue from Dhaka,” he added. The BCB chief also informed that Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has also been proposed as a probable venue, alongside the two stadiums in Dhaka. “But our first choice is Fatullah and we still believe it is possible to play there if there is no more rainfall,” the BCB boss explained.
