“I did not make the comment as a national team player or me being a board director, I just said as a franchise owner and I have the right to say those things. We expected him to stay with us this season and when I heard he won’t play for us I was shocked,” he said.Member secretary of the BPL governing council and influential board director Ismail Haider Mollick earlier said on July 15, “We have already called him (Bulu) and we will also show-cause him and if we don’t get proper answer then we will take action against the franchise and it can be financial or may be different.” However, Mollick informed that Bulu has given a written answer to the board and that they have decided not to take the issue further after discussing with Mushfiq.

“There have been a misunderstanding after our colleague, BCB director and the owner of Barisal, Bulu bhai commented over Mushfiq. He (Mushfiq) was hurt by that. Regarding the issue, the GC governing council has issued a letter to him, following which he answered us. Later we discussed the matter in the GC meeting and also talked with Mushfiq. He has apologised for the matter as it's just a misunderstanding and did not want to mean anything. It was just an unexpected incident. Mushfiq has also taken the matter sportingly and sat with us and I think the matter should be solved after this. We will tell the franchises to remain responsible over making any comment,” Mollick told the media on Wednesday. Earlier on July 14, Barisal owner Bulu made a comment during a TV interview where he claimed that Mushfiq had some disciplinary issues and that the Tigers Test captain was unable to motivate the players. He added that the franchise are not interested in picking him for the next season. Next day, a tearful Mushfiq expressed disappointment over the comment of the franchise owner, which paved the way for unpleasant scenes at the home of cricket in Mirpur.
