Four fifties led Bangladesh to a handsome total of 321 runs for the loss of five wickets at the end of their innings during Thursday’s third and final One Day International against the West Indies at Warner Park in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The Tigers are bidding to avoid a series sweep and Mahmudullah (84*), captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz (77), Soumya Sarkar (73) and Jaker Ali Anik (62*) all played their part in laying a good platform.

Asked to bat first, the visitors were struggling right from the word go as opener Tanzid Hasan and No 3 batter Liton Das both departed without troubling the scorers.

Liton continued his struggle with the willow this year in ODIs as he now has a grand total of 13 runs in his last seven matches.

From 9/2, opening batsman Soumya and skipper Miraz added 136 runs for the third wicket before the former got out for a run-a-ball innings, studded with half a dozen fours and four sixes.

Miraz meanwhile, hammered eight boundaries and a couple of maximums facing 73 deliveries.

After the dismissals of the set duo along with Afif Hossain (15), all-rounder Mahmudullah and the young Jaker set about steering the ship to a total over 300.

The unbroken sixth wicket stand shared 150 with Mahmudullah leading the way with his 63-ball knock that featured seven fours and four sixes.

Jaker provided great support, blasting five boundaries and two sixers from 57 deliveries.

Alzarri Joseph took two wickets for the Windies.

The touring side made three changes to the playing XI with pacers Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nahid Rana making way for fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud and spinner Nasum Ahmed.
