Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team are most likely to come up against Pakistan in Friday’s semi-final after ending the group stage of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup as Pool B runners-up following Tuesday’s seven-run loss to Sri Lanka.
Batting first, the Lankans were all out for 228 in 49.2 overs with Al Fahad bagging four wickets and Rizan Hossain three for the junior Tigers.
In reply, Bangladesh narrowly fell short on 221 with three deliveries of their innings remaining, after a valiant 95 from opener Kalam Siddiki.
The young Tigers earlier began the campaign with victories over Afghanistan and Nepal, while the Lankans won all their group matches.
Nepal emerged third with two points while the Afghans surprisingly finished winless at the foot of the standings.
The last four opponent of the youngsters in red and green will be determined Wednesday in the United Arab Emirates where Group A leaders Pakistan face bottom side Japan and the hosts take on India in a virtual quarter-final.
Pakistan have four points to Japan’s zero, while the UAE and India are locked on two points each.
