Defending champions Comilla Victorians began their Chittagong phase of the Bangladesh Premier League in emphatic fashion as they outclassed Chattogram Challengers by 73 runs after compiling the joint-highest total of the tournament at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Tuesday.

Comilla's two English recruits Will Jacks and Moeen Ali were instrumental in the big victory by wrecking Chattogram brutally.

Jacks blasted an unbeaten 53-ball 108, an innings laced with five fours and 10 sixes, as the Victorians racked up 239/3 to emulate Rangpur Riders's highest total (239/4) in 2019 at the same venue.

The home side were bundled out for 166 in 16.3 overs to concede their second straight defeat with Moeen Ali claiming 4/23, including a hat-trick.

This was the second hat-trick this season after Shoriful Islam’s treble against Comilla in the first match, and eighth overall in the tournament’s history.

Despite the big margin victory, the Victorians stayed at second spot with 12 points from eight matches, same as leaders Rangpur, who have a superior net run rate.

Chattogram are third with 10 points from nine games.

Comilla Victorians 239/3 (Jacks 108*, Liton 60) beat Chattogram Challengers 166 in 16.3 overs (Rishad 4/22, Moeen 4/23) by 73 runs
