Hridoy’s maiden T20 ton guides Comilla to second in BPL

Hridoy became the 6th Bangladeshi to hit a BPL century, with Tamim the only batter among the 6 to score 2

Update : 10 Feb 2024, 01:25 AM

Towhid Hridoy hammered his first century in recognized Twenty20 cricket as Comilla Victorians beat Durdanto Dhaka by four wickets for their fifth victory in seven matches in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday.

Hridoy, who reached his hundred off 53 balls, remained unbeaten 108 off 57 with eight fours and seven sixes to help defending champions Comilla hunt down Dhaka’s challenging 175/5 with a ball to spare.

Fittingly, he struck the winning single to take the Victorians to second spot in the points table.

Rangpur Riders, Comilla and Chattogram Challengers all have 10 points from seven games but the Riders are top by virtue of net run rate.

Hridoy became the sixth Bangladeshi to hit a BPL century, with Tamim Iqbal the only batter among the six to score two.

The right-hander single-handedly drove the Victorians towards victory with the next-best of 34 coming from Brooke Guest’s willow.

This was bottom side Dhaka’s seventh loss in eight, which almost ruined their hopes of playing the playoffs.
