Bangladesh stun Australia to sound major warning for U19 WC

Rohanat Doullah Borson starred for the young Tigers with a 4-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, while Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan impressed with an unbeaten half-century

2020 winners Bangladesh warmed up for their Under-19 World Cup clash against holders India by beating three-time champions Australia by five wickets in Pretoria Wednesday on the final day of the practice matches.

Rohanat Doullah Borson starred for the young Tigers with a four-wicket haul, including a hat-trick in the 34th over, while Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan impressed with an unbeaten half-century.

Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 165 in 37.1 overs with right-arm seamer Borson leading the way with 4/21 from five overs, while captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby bagged two wickets. 

In reply, the youngsters in red and green coasted home in 32.1 overs with middle-order batter Rizwan remaining unbeaten on a 59-ball 53.   

Bangladesh, who earlier lost to Sri Lanka by 112 runs (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method) in Sunday’s warm-up game, take on four-time winners India in Bloemfontein Saturday.

Bangladesh skipper Rabby on the big encounter against India: “We will play it like a normal game. We have had good preparation for the tournament. We have had great input from our coach (Stuart Law), so we will try to get a winning start in the tournament against India."
