Bangladesh in last chance saloon against winless Windies

Underperforming Bangladesh are set to take on defending champions West Indies in an unofficial knockout game in Group 1 of the Super 12 stage in the T20 World Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium Friday.
Both Bangladesh and the West Indies have lost their first two games and are desperate to win the remaining three games in order to be in the race for the semi-finals.
Bangladesh started the main event losing against Sri Lanka despite putting up a good total batting first and conceded the second defeat Wednesday against England.
The Windies on the other hand began their campaign on a humiliating note, getting all out for just 55 runs and suffering a six-wicket defeat to England.
In their second game, the Caribbean side lost to South Africa by eight wickets.
Bangladesh and the West Indies are currently placed fifth and sixth respectively in Group A.
Bangladesh will now need to step up in all departments.
In their last match, against the world's No 1 ranked T20 side England, Bangladesh looked helpless as they surrendered in all departments.
Taking first guard, they could post only 124 for nine and then the bowling was biteless as England were spearheaded by Jason Roy on way to a comprehensive win with eight wickets and 35 balls to spare.
Amid troubles in the opening with Liton Das well below par – eyes will be on Mohammad Naim to continue delivering for the team.
The left-handed batsman has struck two half centuries in the tournament and with Shakib al Hasan not scoring regularly at No 3, Naim will be expected to take that extra responsibility.
Meanwhile, there is an injury concern for the Tigers as wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan is uncertain for the match after getting hurt during practice before the game against England.
Although Nurul played against England, he could miss the upcoming match against the West Indies.
The West Indies have also been dealing with disappointing performances by the batting unit.
Opener Evin Lewis had boosted the Windies against South Africa after Lendl Simmons struggled at the other end.
Lewis in his 35-ball 56 hammered six over boundaries and three boundaries and his team would expect him to continue in his merry run making ways.
The Windies captain Kieron Pollard emphasized that the team have to bat as a unit to move up in the points table and in Roston Chase and Andre Fletcher, they have other batting options.
