Dinajpur Academy High School emerged as the champions of the Prime Bank National School Cricket after beating Chandpur Gani High School by three wickets (Duckworth-Lewis method) in Monday's rain-curtailed final at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Chandpur, invited to bat first, posted a moderate 174 runs on the board losing nine wickets in 50 overs, riding on captain Salman Jahan Niazi's 91-ball 67.

Salman finished as the highest scorer of the competition with 360 runs and was also named the player of the tournament.

Seamer-allrounder Ainul Islam bagged four wickets and was later adjudged player of the final.

Dinajpur posted 102 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs when rain intervened, following which they were set a revised target of 158 in 40 overs.

Dinajpur eventually reached their destination in 30.3 overs with opening batter Abdur Rouf scoring the highest 48.

Winning captain Maruf Hossain expressed delight after the victory, saying, “We thought of becoming champions when we reached the final. We played like champions. We wanted to restrict the opposition for a low total, we were able to do that. We felt bad during the rain interruption as we wanted to win the title on the field. And that is what we achieved when play resumed. All our hard work has paid off.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board director and chairman of the game development committee Khaled Mahmud and Prime Bank's additional managing director Faisal Rahman were present among others during the presentation ceremony.
