Bangladesh women's cricket team got off to a winning start in the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup after thrashing their Malaysian counterparts by 97 runs in Mong Kok, Hong Kong Monday.
Batting first, the Tigresses posted 148 losing six wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, riding on an unbeaten 44-ball 57 from player of the match Murshida Khatun.
Murshida struck seven fours in her knock and was ably supported by Shorna Akter, who made a 14-ball 20.
In reply, the Malaysians were restricted to a meager 51 for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs as only three batters were able to score in double digit.
The women in red and green put in a thoroughly disciplined bowling performance, led by leg-spinner Rabeya Khan, who bagged two wickets conceding just seven runs in three overs.
Bangladesh will now take on Sri Lanka Wednesday in their next match before concluding their Group B campaign against the United Arab Emirates Friday.
Group A comprises India, Pakistan, Nepal and hosts Hong Kong.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
