Siddons to not work with Bangladesh national team anymore

Siddons will remain contracted with the BCB and focus in developing cricketers outside the national dressing room

Update : 02 May 2023, 05:48 PM

Coach Jamie Siddons' tenure as batting coach with the Bangladesh national team has ended.

The former Australian cricketer however, will remain contracted with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and focus in developing cricketers outside the national dressing room.

Siddons confirmed the switch through a Facebook post Monday.

“I'm back in Dhaka after a short break. I won't be working with the [Bangladesh] national team anymore as I feel my best value to BCB is working with the next generation to ensure the players just outside of the team are being well looked after and are improving each day in preparation for their next opportunity to play for their country,” said Siddons in the post.

The social media post further informed that the decision was taken through mutual understanding between Siddons and the BCB.

“I love coaching the skills of the game to young players and so the BCB and I have made it happen! The glory is being with the national team and I love that, but most of the skill development, improvement and training takes place in the nets and heat when grinding it out in the nets at Mirpur! Looking forward to working with our future players with the A Team and the Tigers,” the 59-year old added.

Siddons first served the Bangladesh national team as head coach from 2007 to 2011 and came back for his second stint with the BCB in February 2022.
