The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday started selling tickets for the first One-Day International (ODI) match between Bangladesh and England, with a major flaw in them as they featured the flag of the United Kingdom instead of England's.
While the United Kingdom flag represents England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, England uses its own flag in cricket.
The English flag, called the St George's Cross, features a red cross over a white rectangle, while Great Britain's official flag is called the Union Flag or the Union Jack.
The United Kingdom flag is used in the Olympics, where all four countries participate under the united banner of the UK.
When asked about the mistake, BCB Media Committee Chairman Tanvir Ahmed Titu said he had only just become aware of the issue and was looking into who was responsible.
However, he noted that a significant number of tickets had already been sold, making it impossible to rectify the error in such a short time.
The first ODI match between Bangladesh and England is scheduled to start at noon on Wednesday at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
