Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has earned international recognition for his performance in 2022, becoming the only Tiger to be included in the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the best teams of 2022 on Tuesday.
The ICC Team of the Year recognizes 11 outstanding individuals who have impressed one and all – be it with the bat, the ball or their all-round exploits in a calendar year.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz emerged as one of the most consistent all-rounders in ODI cricket in 2022, with some brilliant displays.
With his bowling as effective as ever, Mehidy developed his batting further, often bailing Bangladesh out of some tough situations, the ICC report says.
ICCHe picked up 24 wickets in 15 games at an average of 28.20 with a best performance of 4/29. He also scored 330 runs at a stunning average of 66, with one century and one fifty.
The 10 other players in the XI are Babar Azam (c), Travis Head, Shai Hope, Shreyas Iyer, Tom Latham (wk), Sikandar Raza, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, Trent Boult and Adam Zampa.
Mehidy's all-round performances throughout 2022 recently earned him an all-format BCB contract for 2023. He joined Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed on the list of players with all-format contracts.
