BCB election date in one month’s time: Nazmul

Update : 01 Jul 2013, 05:11 PM
The much-awaited election date of Bangladesh Cricket Board will be declared in a month and the International Cricket Council (ICC) will provide a guideline for the election, revealed board president Nazmul Hasan while talking to the media upon his arrival at the Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport Monday.   “We have got some clear cut guidelines from the ICC. As I said earlier, the constitution of 2008 does not apply for the election, but the constitution of 2012, which was approved by the NSC (National Sports Council), is alright. ICC doesn’t have any problem with that,” said Nazmul.   The BCB boss also informed that the ICC did not give any timeframe for holding the election, but Nazmul was confident in declaring the date soon. “They (ICC) haven’t given us any timeframe for the election, but I feel that we can declare the election date in one month’s time.”   Nazmul was very disappointed and also furious on the comments made by another former BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury who earlier said in a TV programme that the board is in no mood to start the league and they are more interested in securing votes from the counselors of the top six clubs.   “I don’t know what he (Saber) said, but he spoke complete bogus. Why the league was delayed I told the media clearly. I am very hurt with all the comments that have been coming. We have to fix the league, who wins the election is unimportant to me,” he said.   Meanwhile, he also spoke on Acsu’s report which he is yet to receive. “Acsu wants to do further investigations on BPL. The Bangladesh chapter of interviews is closed. Only one more interview is left. However, they need to interrogate people outside Bangladesh as well. So for that they need a month more.   “When I get the report, there will be number of things that I can tell you, which I can’t right now,” added Nazmul. The BCB president was also concerned about the chief selector’s post after Akram Khan showed his interest in participating in the next BCB election.   “We need to take a decision soon, because if Akram wants to leave then we need a chief selector. Who can be given the duty is another question. I can’t take this decision alone and I need to talk with everyone in the board,” he added.
