Bangladesh have played the first three games with two different combinations in the Super 12 stage so far.
Against the Netherlands and Zimbabwe, Bangladesh opted for four specialist bowlers as Mosaddek Hossain and Soumya Sarkar combined to bowl the remaining four overs, while against South Africa, the Tigers selected Mehedi Hasan Miraz in the playing XI and dropped Yasir Ali.
Question arises whether captain Shakib al Hasan will go for an extra batsman against India, like in the two victories, and use Mosaddek or Soumya as fifth bowler.
Shakib is optimistic with Mosaddek's bowling and even considers him as a regular bowler rather than an occasional one.
“If we were short on bowlers then we could not have completed the 20 overs (in the last three games). This year records show that Mosaddek has clinched a five-wicket haul in a T20I match, which is kind of rare. So if you just consider him as an occasional bowler then it will be wrong. We don't consider him as an occasional bowler. But yes, he can bowl a lot better. And if you consider our domestic tournament, he bowls four overs regularly there,” said Shakib.
Mosaddek bowled the last over against Zimbabwe where he held his nerve and defended 16 runs and his overs against India will be key if Bangladesh opt for eight specialist batsmen in their playing XI.
