BCB silent over Acsu issue

Update : 27 Jun 2013, 07:16 PM

The much awaited report from ICC’s Anti Corruption Security Unit (Acsu) on spot fixing was likely handed over to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan yesterday. The BCB boss, who was expecting to get hold of the final report during his stay in England, is currently attending the week-long ICC Annual General Meeting at Lord’s. Acsu questioned several Bangladeshi and foreign players, who participated in the second edition of Bangladesh Premier League, regarding their involvement with any sort of illegal activities in the Twenty20 competition and the country was stunned with the reports that followed. On June 4 national cricketer and two-time BPL champions Dhaka Gladiators’ player Mohammad Ashraful confessed his involvement with spot fixing. The Board suspended the veteran until Acsu fully completed their inquiry and submit the final report. After Ashraful’s confession Acsu paid few more visits to Bangladesh for further investigation. However, no one in the Board was ready to make a comment before the president arrived as thematter is considered very confidential. Meanwhile, Nazmul’s presence in the meeting might also raise talks about the World T20 scheduled in Bangladesh next year. Earlier this month,an ICC inspection team expressed their dissatisfaction over the ground in Sylhet and since then, rumours are the mega event can possibly be shifted to Sri Lanka or South Africa.
