Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan is likely to travel to Singapore in a day or two for treatment of his fractured finger.
Right-handed batter is waiting to obtain the visa.
Nurul’s stint as the T20I captain in the ongoing tour of Zimbabwe did not go well as he was forced to return home after being sidelined for the remainder of the tour with a finger injury picked up during the second T20I against the African nation.
It has been initially said Nurul will be out of action for two to three weeks to recover from the injury.
However, the time for recovery can extend if Nurul undergoes surgery in Singapore and thus there are concerns regarding his availability in the Asia Cup, set to start in United Arab Emirates at the end of this month.
“We have two-three weeks before the Asia Cup. In order to play the tournament, Nurul must recover at least a week before,” said BCB’s chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury to the media.
“We will discuss this with a finger specialist. It can be said then whether surgery is needed. However, he will not be allowed to rush to the field for the Asia Cup. The T20 World Cup and his entire career lie ahead,” the BCB official added.
Nurul while speaking to Dhaka Tribune Thursday expressed confidence that he will not require surgery and that he will be fit ahead of the Asia Cup.
“I have decided to go to Singapore as the travel time is less. I am now awaiting the visa and will travel as soon as I get it,” said Nurul.
“I think given the state the injury is at currently, I will not require surgery and will be able to play the Asia Cup. However, it is always better to get well checked. Let’s see what the doctor in Singapore suggests,” he added.
