West Indies ODI and T20I captain Nicholas Pooran said he is expecting his team to play smart cricket and pick wins against Bangladesh in the forthcoming home series. The statement from Pooran came at the back of a disappointing whitewash against hosts Pakistan in the three-match ODI series in Multan.
Bangladesh will take on hosts West Indies in two Tests [part of the ICC Test Championship], three T20Is and as many ODIs. The series is scheduled to begin on Thursday with the sides locking horns in the first Test of the series at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Pooran, in the limited-overs cricket, looks to rectify the mistakes from the series against Pakistan and make a strong bounce back against Bangladesh.
“The last two games [against Pakistan] was disappointing. But we did not do badly as a team. We have learnt a lot from this series against Pakistan. We have series against Bangladesh soon and we are looking forward to that,” said Pooran to the media in Pakistan.
“I hope we will be able to make use of the lessons in Pakistan against Bangladesh. We need to takes wickets, score runs and play smart cricket [against Bangladesh]. I wish the Test team well. We are waiting for another series win [in Test] against Bangladesh,” said the Windies wicket-keeper batter.
Windies are rather waiting a tough task ahead considering the facts and the numbers. Bangladesh have won the last three ODI series against West Indies – twice at home and one in Caribbean Islands in 2018.
