All eyes were on Shakib al Hasan as the ace all-rounder was making a comeback for the Tigers in the longest format after being unavailable for five Tests in recent months.
Bangladesh camp was facing a setback before the series as Shakib was ruled out initially due to Covid-19 upon returning from the USA.
But just before the first Test he was cleared to play as the report came as negative.
Questions were raised whether he would be match fit to play the first Test as he was out of practice for weeks before the Chittagong five-dayer.
But Shakib played eventually and showed his class as he bowled superbly in the first day of the Test match in Chittagong on a flat batting track and under scorching heat.
He bowled 19 overs on day one and conceded only 27 runs for his one wicket.
And in the Dhaka Test he picked up his 19th five wicket haul in the first innings where he bowled 40 overs and leaked just 96 runs.
Particularly his ball for Dimuth Karunaratne's dismissal which rattled the stumps between batsman’s bat and pad was a stunning delivery.
It was flighted, drifted and Shakib created the perfect set-up for that wicket.
His 58-run innings with a positive frame of mind in the second innings was also vintage Shakib as he is used to counter attack in difficult situations.
It looks like Shakib is finding back his mojo in Test cricket which could be crucial for the Tigers in the upcoming Tests against the West Indies.
