Update : 27 May 2022, 02:48 PM

Another batting debacle saw Bangladesh losing yet another Test and series as they lost to Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the fifth day of their second and last Test to lose the series by 1-0 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Friday.

Resuming on 34-4, while trailing by 141 runs, Bangladesh lost overnight batter and first innings centurion Mushfiqur Rahim to be reduced to 53-5 but Shakib and Liton batted positively through rest of the session to go to lunch at 149-5, taking a lead of eight runs.

However, Liton, who scored century in the first innings, got out after lunch for 52 when he was dismissed by an acrobatic catch of pacer Ashita Fernando of his own bowling that broke the 103-run stand.

Shakib soon followed him scoring 58 when he his mistimed pull of a Fernando bouncer looped in the air for an easy for wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.

Bangladesh leading just by 22 runs with seven wicket down, the ultimate result was just a matter of time and Fernando made sure the visitors did not need much of that by adding two more scalps to bundle them out for 169.

Sri Lankan openers reached the target of 29 in three overs.

Ashita Fernando, who got seven Test wickets in four matches prior to this game, ended with 6-51 in the innings and became just the third Sri Lankan pacer to accomplish a 10-wicket haul in the match as the finished with the match figure of 10-144.

Fernando's new-ball partner Rajitha, who got five wickets in the first innings, ended with seven wickets. Sri Lankan spinners could grab just one wicket throughout the match when Ramesh Mendis grabbed Mosaddek late in the fifth day.

Bangladesh after winning the toss scored 365 despite reducing to 24-5 and registering as many as six ducks thanks to 272-run sixth wicket stand of Mushfiq and Liton who scored 175 not out and 141 respectively.

Sri Lanka got a hefty 141-run lead thanks to centuries of Angelo Matthews and Dinesh Chandimal and Bangladesh once again showed weakness in their top order as they reduced to 24-4 before Liton and Shakib, who picked up five wickets in Sri Lankan innings, just to avoid the innings defeat.
