Riding on a mammoth 184-run innings of Opener Anamul Haque, Prime Bank Limited amassed 388 to beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 111 runs in Dhaka Premier League at Savar 4, on Sunday.
In other match of the day, Abahani Limited beat Khelaghar by 20 runs at Savar 3.
PBCC v Shinepukur
After losing the toss Prime openers, especially Anamul took charge on the opposition bowlers and the opening stand was broken after putting 162 runs on the board the 22nd over when Shahadat Hossain was dismissed for run-a-ball 48.
Anamul, however kept the onslaught and got partners in Abihimanyu Easwaran and Mohammad Mitun as they added 30 and 38 respectively.
But it was Anamul, who last played for Bangladesh in 2019 in an ODI, was the star of the show as he made 184 off just 142 balls with the aid of 18 fours and eight sixes.
Anamul, however, must rued the fact that he got out in 41 overs and he still had enough overs to become the second Bangladeshi batsman to score a List A century after Soumya Sarkar’s not out 208 for Abahani in 2019.
After the fall of Anamul, Nassir Hossain played a cameo of 61 off just 32 to pile a massive total, which was five short of highest ever total in DPL history- Abahani’s 393 against Prime Doleshwar in 2019. Incidentally, Anamul was player of the match for his 128-run innings for Abahani on that occasion.
Prime were reduced to 42-3 while chasing the huge total but Sikandar Raza scored 98 and Sajjadul Haque made 58 to reduce the defeat margin.
Abahani v Khelaghar
After losing the toss Abahani were in a spot of bother as they were reduced to 48-3 but opener Mohammad Naim made 84 and formed a 111-run stand with skipper Mosaddek Hossain (63).
Shamim Hossain scored 42 off 39 balls to help his side finish on 261-9.
In reply, Khelaghar reached 151-2 in 31st over and looked to be in the vantage position but they Amit Majumder was dismissed for 79 and floodgate of wickets was opened.
Amite Hasan, who formed a 121-run partnership with Amit, got out for 54 and in the end Khelaghar finished their innings on 241-9 to be beaten by 20 runs.
Arafat Sunny and Tanzim Hasan Shakib got three wicets apiece for Abahani.
