Tigers left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed picked up four wickets in the powerplay to put Afghanistan in the backfoot while defending 155.
Then Shakib kept the pressure from one end after powerplay and bowled an economic spell.
Afghanistan tried to rebuild the innings after losing their fourth wicket for 20 as experienced Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran formed a 37-run partnership.
But Shakib removed both the veteran batsmen and completed Bangladesh’s dominance with the ball.
Shakib first bagged the wicket of Nabi in the 11th over and later Zadran in the 13th and the fall of the two wickets killed the match for the Afghans as they were bundled out for just 94.
