Defending champions Bangladesh will face hot favorites India in the fourth and last quarterfinal of the U-19 World Cup in Antigua Saturday.
Bangladesh started their World Cup defence by losing against England but bounced back by winning against Canada and United Arab Emirates in the Caribbean islands.
“We got five-six days break before the quarter-final. We practiced well in this period and also played a game scenario match among ourselves,” said Bangladesh captain Rakibul Hasan through a video message yesterday.
“We are in good shape after winning the last two matches. Our batsmen and bowlers performed well in the last two games. So mentally and physically we are ready in a confident shape. Our goal is to play positive and fearless cricket against India.
“We played against India in recent times so we know our opposition’s strengths. But we need to execute our plans very well in the game and reduce mistakes. To be honest we are not thinking about the result too much, we are just focusing on playing positive and fearless cricket.”
Bangladesh won the previous edition of the U-19 World Cup back in February 2020 defeating India in South Africa.
