Siddons eager to join Tigers’ coaching set up

BCB yet to decide areas Siddons will work on

Update : 22 Jan 2022, 04:55 PM

Former Bangladesh head coach Jamie Siddons is delighted at getting the opportunity to work with Bangladesh cricket again and expressed eagerness in his social media page to join the coaching set up once again for the Tigers.

Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Siddons as batting consultant last month.

The BCB is however, yet to decide on the areas Siddons will work on.

The 57-year old previously worked as Bangladesh national team coach from 2007 till the 2011 World Cup.

Siddons informed that he got the visa and is likely to fly to Bangladesh next week and hopefully start work from February.

“Hi guys. I have just got my visa for Bangladesh which will be my next coaching job and there will be two years over there hopefully. We have a T20 World Cup in Australia which will start from October this year. I am hoping to work with some young talents over there while working with the national team or with the junior development program. I love to help young kids to prepare for the game. As I said I got my visa (Saturday) and I will book my flight for next week or so, hopefully I will start my work there from February 1. I have been there before, I loved it and I will love it again,” said Siddons.

Siddons praised Bangladesh team’s success in recent times but admitted they need to be more consistent.

“They have achieved some really good wins in recent times in T20 and Test match cricket. Most notably in the first Test against New Zealand recently. They had a great win there, batted and bowled beautifully. And then they all fell apart in the second Test. I am not sure why but that will be the thing to work; to bring some consistency. Hopefully I can help them when I get over there. I will hopefully be working with the national team and with some young players. I am not 100% sure where I will spend my time there but I think I will work with some young talented players to help and improve their cricket," said Siddons.

“So wish me luck. I hope I will improve my golf over there (smiles). There is a great golf course in the middle of Dhaka. Hope to get some time there after work.”
