Update : 05 Jan 2022, 09:00 PM

It was a combined effort from Team Bangladesh as they achieved a historical victory over World Test Champions New Zealand in New Zealand.

Here are the player ratings for each Bangladesh player from this Test match:

Shadman Islam

The left-hander had a somewhat decent game as he scored 22 in the first innings and three in the second. More importantly he faced 55 deliveries in the first innings, which helped Bangladesh make a decent start. Despite missing a sitter, Shadman took four catches in the first innings and one in the second.

Rating 7

Mahmudul Hasan Joy

The rookie opener made a solid contribution in the first innings as he played a gritty innings of 78 off 228 deliveries while facing the likes of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson. Joy’s innings provided the foundation for Bangladesh to post a crucial healthy lead in the first innings.

Rating 8.5

Nazmul Hossain Shanto

The left-hander played a good knock of 64 in the first innings and stitched together important partnership of 104 runs for the second wicket with Joy. That partnership was pivotal for Bangladesh to weather the early threats and go in the front foot. In the second innings Shanto opened the innings replacing injured Joy and played a watchful 17 while chasing a small target.

Rating 8

Mominul Haque

The skipper was brilliant throughout the match in all departments, with the bat, captaincy and even the ball. A brilliant 88 off 244 balls in the first innings and two crucial wickets gave Bangladesh the edge. And his bowling changes and rotation of bowlers worked out quite well. Captain really led from the front.

Rating 9

Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiq scored 12 off 53 balls in the first innings. The winning boundary came from his bat and the experienced campaigner was seen advising the young pace attack quite a few times in the match. As a senior player Mushfiq’s lively presence helped the team significantly.

Rating 7

Liton Das

Liton played a superb innings of 86 in the first innings off 177 balls and struck 10 boundaries all across the park. He batted fluently and formed an important 158-run partnership with Mominul. That stand put the Tigers on the driving seat. Although Liton missed the century, like Mominul, his artistic innings was the cornerstone of the big first innings total.

Rating 8.5

Yasir Ali Chowdhury

Yasir played his part with a short (26 off 85) but important innings for the Tigers in the lower middle-order with Miraz. Bangladesh were on top with Liton-Mominul partnership. But their departures brought the Kiwis back into the game. However, Yasir and Miraz scored a vital 75-run partnership to keep the visitors at vantage position.

Rating 7

Mehedi  Hasan Miraz

Bangladesh opted for Miraz over Taijul Islam as a specialist spinner, thinking Miraz can provide extra edge with his batting skills in lower middle-order. And the off-spinning all-rounder performed exactly that way in the game. Miraz’s 47 off 88 ensured Bangladesh took a big lead and bagged four important wickets too.

Rating 8.5

Shoriful Islam

The young left-arm pacer proved his worth in Test cricket as he bowled superbly in both innings. His first spell with Taskin in the opening session on day one was superb, and he took the all-important wicket of Tom Latham in the fourth over of the innings, which pumped up Bangladesh. Ebadot finished the match for Bangladesh but Shoriful was the one who started the aggression.

Rating 8

Taskin Ahmed

The return of Taskin was like a fairytale as the right-arm pacer became an integral part of the Tigers bowling attack in all formats. Taskin started the match brilliantly with the new ball on day one, partnering with Shoriful, and put pressure on the Kiwi top-order straightaway. Taskin’s two wickets on day five restricted New Zealand to a low score and lessened all the pressure for the batters in second innings while chasing.

Rating 8

Ebadot Hossain

Ebadot’s brilliant display of fast bowling on day four afternoon actually made Bangladesh a contender for winning this Test. The right-arm pacer bowled superbly with swing, accuracy and reverse swing to rattle New Zealand middle-order. Ebadot finished the innings with bowling figure of 6/46 off 21 overs and was adjudged player of the match.
