Tigers trail Ireland by 180 runs after Taijul five-for

Taijul led the way with 5/58, while Miraz and Ebadot bagged 2 apiece

Bangladesh trail visitors Ireland by 180 runs after Taijul Islam marked day one's play in the solitary Test match with his 11th five for.

Batting first in Mirpur Tuesday, the Irish were bundled out for 214, courtesy Harry Tector's 50 and a string of 30s from Lorcan Tucker (37), Curtis Campher (34) and Mark Adair (32).


Left-arm spinner Taijul led the way for the Tigers bowling attack finishing with 5/58, while Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain bagged two wickets apiece.

In reply, Nazmul Hossain Shanto (nought) departed in the very first over, before Tamim Iqbal (21) and Mominul Haque (12 not out) looked to negotiate the rest of the day's proceedings, but Tamim was dismissed in the final delivery of the day, leaving the home side 34/2.
