Former South Africa captain and coach Gary Kirsten will conduct a three-day conditioning camp for Bangladesh Test squad at Cape Town. Bangladesh are set to travel to South Africa in March for three ODIs and two Tests. Ahead of the Test series, set to start on March 31, the Bangladesh Test cricketers will undergo a two-week long camp at Kirsten’s academy.
Both Bangladesh Test and ODI team are scheduled to travel for the African nation on March 12. Upon reaching the team will get divided into two parts. The ODI team will be stationed at Johannesburg for the three-match series scheduled to begin on March 18 while the rest of the players will be at Cape Town and train.
Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque and his company will train with support of the local coaches and newly appointed batting consultant Jamie Siddons.
Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations chairman Jalal Younus revealed the info to the media on Saturday.
The occasion will be the first for Bangladesh to play at South Africa’s historical venues – the first Test will be at Durban and the second at 133-year-old Port Elizabeth. Two of the ODIs will be played at Centurian and the third ODI at Johannesburg.
Bangladesh first toured South Africa in 2022 and the last in 2017. Bangladesh during this time have played nine ODIs and six Tests but have not been able to secure a single win.
Tigers will face hosts South Africa in the first ODI on March 18 at Centurion. The second and the third ODIs will be played at Johannesburg and Centurion on March 20 and 23 respectively. The matches are part of the ICC Super League.
The first Test will be played at Durban from March 31 followed by the second and final Test of the series will be played at Port Elizabeth from April 8. The Test is part of the ICC Test Championship.
