Afghanistan Under-19 won the fifth and final match of their five-match one-day series against hosts Bangladesh Under-19 by three wickets at the Sylhet International cricket stadium on Sunday but the latter won the series 3-2.
Hosts Bangladesh managed to score just 155 runs losing all of their wickets in 47.4 overs while batting first as Afghan bowlers took wickets in regular intervals with economical bowling.
Abdullah Al Mamun scored 37 while opener Iftekhar Hossain was the second top scorer with 26 runs.
Bilal Sami and Nangeyalia Kharote picked three wickets apiece for the visitors.
In reply, Afghanistan lost both of their openers within five overs but number three batsman Ishaq Zazai played an important knock of 52 off 79 deliveries with five fours and two sixes.
Bangladesh spinners bowled tight in the middle part of the innings and the game became close in the late stage.
As many as 10 runs were needed in the last two overs and Afghanistan lost their seventh wicket, captain Ijaz Ahmed (32 off 77 balls), in the last ball of 49th over.
Seven runs were required in the last over and Izharulhaq Naveed hit an over boundary to level the score. Eventually Afghans reached their target with three balls and three wickets to spare.
Young Tigers won the first three matches of the series to make the remaining ones, which are won by visitors, a mere formality.
